Samuel N. Cheuvront, Ph.D., R.D., FACSM, is a sports nutrition scientist with > 20 years of research experience. He worked as a lead U.S. Army research scientist for 19 years and served as a subject matter expert on hydration for the U.S. DoD for 10 years. Dr. Cheuvront has published > 150 scientific papers and academic book chapters related to exercise fluid balance, hydration assessment, thermoregulation, physiological modelling, sports nutrition and exercise performance. In 2016 he founded Sports Science Synergy, LLC, a sports science consulting company, and now consults within the sports beverage, sports apparel, sports technology, and the consumer health industries. Since 2012 he has also been a consultant to the Boston Athletic Association and the Boston Marathon. Dr. Cheuvront helped create the first ever water planning application for the U.S. military called the Soldier Water Estimation Tool and he is the creator of the Road Race Water Planner© mobile application for sports medicine. Dr. Cheuvront is a longtime member of American College of Sports Medicine, the American Physiological Society, and the International Institute for Race Medicine. Dr. Cheuvront is an inventor, patent holder, and a U.S. Army Veteran.
