Dr. Melinda M. Manore is a Professor Emerita in Nutrition at Oregon State University (OSU) where her research focuses on the interaction of nutrition and exercise for energy balance, health, and performance. Although retired, she continues to do research, write textbooks, and work with colleagues and former students.She has authored over 145+ scientific publications, 50 nutrition and exercise outreach articles, 4 nutrition textbooks, including one on sport nutrition for health and performance, (HK publisher), 1 sport nutrition curriculum, and 160+ research presentations at professional meetings. She is a member of American Society of Nutrition (ASN), the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), Obesity Society, and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). For these organizations she has served in many leadership positions, including Vice-President of ACSM. She was the Co-PI on two $5M USDA Obesity Prevention grants, including one focused on teaching life-long sport nutrition and physical activity behaviors to high school soccer players. She has served numerous editorial boards and received many awards include, ACSM Citation Award (2016); ACSM President’s Lecture (2012); AND SCAN Distinguished Scholar Award (2011); President’s Council on Fitness, Sport and Nutrition Science Board Member (2011-13). Dr. Manore received her BA from Seattle Pacific University, MS from the University of Oregon and PhD in Nutritional Sciences/Exercise Science from OSU.
