Tonje Reier-Nilsen has been a consultant at Oslo University Hospital since 2011 and has been subject manager of severe asthma since 2016 at the Department of Pediatrics, section for Allergy and Lung Disease. Reier-Nilsen has been an active researcher since 2014 and is part of the OSTRC (Oslo Sports Trauma Research Centre) and ORAACLE (Oslo Research group of Asthma and Allergy in children, the Lung and Environment). Reier-Nilsen has published mainly in allergy, severe asthma in children, sports asthma and long covid. Reier-Nilsen is part of the IOC consensus group for Respiratory illness in athletes from 2019 and was responsible for the paper on diagnostic approach. Since 2018 and 2022, respectively, Reier-Nilsen has been employed at the National Olympic Training Centre in Oslo, Norway, and The Norwegian Sports Medicine Centre – Football Association, Oslo, Norway, as subject manager of breathing problems in athletes. Reier-Nilsen also serves on the science board of the Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association.
