Diet/Recipe Analysis
There are many different options for the analysis of food intake records. These were traditionally paper-based, but are now very largely computer-based, allowing greater flexibility and ease of use. Some of the available programs are complex and expensive, while others offer convenience and simplicity of use.
Some programs allow calculation by weights or standard portion sizes, while others offer only the option of using either food weights or portions. Some include recipes, while others do not, but allow you to analyse ingredients separately. Some will automatically add results to a spreadsheet, greatly simplifying the process of analysing diets.
The following are some of the programs that you might choose to use, but you may well have others that you are currently using. Some of the free sites are good, but there may be problems, like frequent and annoying pop-ups or a limited range of foods in the database. Some are blatantly selling something, but still may have some good ideas along the way.
You might like to try some of those listed below and compare them with your current favourite. If so, it would be good to share your views with others. If you know of other diet analysis software that should be added to this list and would like to share this with colleagues, please let us know.
